In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there’s a deadly war raging between vampires and their slayers. And there exists a secret band of brothers like no other—six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. And now, a dutiful twin must choose between two lives…
Fiercely loyal to the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Phury has sacrificed himself for the good of the race, becoming the male responsible for keeping the Brotherhood’s bloodlines alive. As Primale of the Chosen, he is obligated to father the sons and daughters who will ensure that the traditions of the race survive, and that there are warriors to fight those who want all vampires extinguished.
As his first mate, the Chosen Cormia wants to win not only his body but his heart for herself. She is drawn to the noble responsibility behind the emotionally scarred male. But Phury has never allowed himself to know pleasure or joy. As the war with the Lessening Society grows grim, tragedy looms over the Brotherhood’s mansion, and Phury must decide between duty and love…
I don’t have many emotions about sixth book from Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I’m loving these buddy reads with Ruby @ Bookishly Ruby but Phury’s book has never been my favorite. I don’t know if it should be called Phury’s book though. It focused more in pretty much anything else but him and Cormia. You can read Ruby’s review here.
I still don’t like Phury and Cormia much. He didn’t seem to care about her much and they got together way too fast after he finally got his head out of his ass. He never asked her things and then got mad when she didn’t tell him things she shared with John Matthew.
I loved the friendship between John Matthew and Cormia. These two only saw each others as friends since they had feelings for other people but I actually liked the idea of John Matthew and Cormia together more than him and Xhex or Cormia and Phury.
And I haven’t even liked John Matthew so far during this reread!
I don’t really get why Cormia thought Phury was a good male who focused on other people. I didn’t really see it since in the last who knows how many books he hasn’t thought about anyone besides himself (Ok, he helped V but otherwise he has been selfish). He doesn’t care what he does to his twin by hurting himself and is only focused on his manpain. No wonder Wrath couldn’t trust his word anymore. His feelings for Bella wasn’t even addressed after Bella and Cormia’s talk.
I seriously remember disliking Qhuinn but I actually liked him in this one. He was just trying to keep Blay safe and he took his new job from the king seriously.
All in all this book was all over the place. The point of views changed all the time and when a book is about a certain couple I also expect it to actually be about them. I loved that we finally got to meet Lassiter though.
