Synopsis:
A dangerous alliance between a Vampyre bride and an Alpha Werewolf becomes a love deep enough to sink your teeth into in this new paranormal romance.

Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest, is an outcast—again. Her days of living in anonymity among the Humans are over: she has been called upon to uphold a historic peacekeeping alliance between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres, and she sees little choice but to surrender herself in the exchange—again…

Weres are ruthless and unpredictable, and their Alpha, Lowe Moreland, is no exception. He rules his pack with absolute authority, but not without justice. And, unlike the Vampyre Council, not without feeling. It’s clear from the way he tracks Misery’s every movement that he doesn’t trust her. If only he knew how right he was….

Because Misery has her own reasons to agree to this marriage of convenience, reasons that have nothing to do with politics or alliances, and everything to do with the only thing she’s ever cared about. And she is willing to do whatever it takes to get back what’s hers, even if it means a life alone in Were territory…alone with the wolf.

Warning: Might contain spoilers

I wasn’t interested in reading this book when it was published but I was in the mood for a vampire book and I love arranged marriage trope usually, so I decided to get it. Also my friends liked it, so why not?

“Other people’s approval is a powerful drug. Lucky me, I never got the chance to develop an addiction”

Wedding ceremonies are exclusively a human thing. Vampyre society has evolved past monogamy and Misery had never been in a werewolf wedding. Mysery had no intentions of agreeing to the arranged marriage since she had always been a pawn to her father. First her father send her as a Vampyre Collateral to humans and now he wanted to be one among werewolves.

I liked the romance Lowe and Misery but it’s a slow burn and most of the book Lowe is trying to avoid her. Misery taught herself not to care since no one cared about her but her foster sister. This and the fact that she knew that Lowe had a mate helped her not to get attached to her husband. Lowe found her a fearsome fighter and I liked that he always believed her when she was telling the truth.

The vampyre society was very sad and I wonder what made Mystery’s father change. I kind of wish that Mysery’s brother will get her own book at some point.

“You’re not a problem, Misery. You’re a privilege.”

All in all Bride is arranged marriage book between a vampire and a werewolf. They are also fated mates but only one of them knows that. This book was completely different from what I believed it to be but I enjoyed the slow burn. I just wish Lowe hadn’t kept such a thing from her and even lied about it to her face.
