Best Contemporary Book of 2019

I have been too lazy to write any discussion posts but I decided to take part to another prompt from Sophie @ Beware The Reader‘s Best of 2019– series for Blogmas.

I decided not to only choose from books published in 2019 because I could probably count those books with one hand.

The Bride Test by Helen Hoang

The first book I could think of is The Bride Test by Helen Hoang.

Sophie actually made me want to start this series in her “Best of 2018”- series. Autism rep made me want to read it so badly and while I enjoyed it I was also disappointed because I didn’t know it was going to have escort character.

I decided to read The Bride Test anyway and I enjoyed it so much more. I don’t give books five starts that often even if I do it now more than few years ago but The Bride Test definitely deserved all those stars. My expectations were a little lower than while reading the first book but Esme and Khai’s romance just was much more interesting to me. It was slow burn which is hit or miss to me but there was a lot of development and I don’t talk about this book enough but I just recommend you guys to read it.

Ricochet by Krista and Becca Ritchie

ricochetThe next book in my list won’t probably be surprise after how many times I’ve mentioned the series and been slowly reading it. Hopefully I’ll finally finish it in 2020.

I have been talking about Addicted To You series so much this year and I haven’t even finished the series! It just still surprises me how I can actually enjoy book featuring friends to lovers trope so much.  On top of that I usually skip the “middle” books since they’re not usually ‘officially’ necessary reads to me, like Destroy Me by Tahereh Mafi.

Another surprising thing about this book is that my favorite couple were separated most of the book while they were struggling with their addictions. But like always Lily and Lo never give up on each other. They make mistakes but they also never stop believing each other.

I have like/ dislike relationship with Lily’s sisters but I do love how Rose was really there for Lily after finding out her secret and how Ryke would stop at nothing to help Lo.

What were your favorite contemporary books from 2019?

    1. I love how at the same time it’s about real family and found family since Calloway sisters didn’t get close until they found out about Lily’s addiction and Lo didn’t even know he had a brother. Then the whole gang became a family.
