City Of Heavenly Fire is the last book of the series that made me love reading. I know some people think that Cassandra Clare shouldn’t have continued this series after the third book since she only planned to write a trilogy but I actually like these two last books more than the original trilogy.

I could care less about Emma and Julian when I first read this book. Instead of reading their parts I just skipped them but I actually enjoyed reading their POVs this time. I love how Clary immediately wanted a new weapon when Emma told her that she needed one if she was Jace’s girlfriend.

I liked the romances is this book but I especially liked how Magnus and Alec dealed with things. We got angst but we also got them talking about things that bothered them, like Magnus not revealing anything about himself.

I have talked about how much I love Will and Jem’s parabatai bond but I don’t think it was shown how close Alec and Jace are during this series. That’s why it made me so happy when they did little things in this book like breaking other’s phone, joke around, show concern and even talk about how much they mean to each other.

I still didn’t care about Maia or any werewolf business but at least Bat was a little more interesting than Jordan. I should feel bad for not even remembering who Bat is but still being more interested in him than Jordan– but I am not.

I was regretting re-reading this series but after reading these last few books I’m actually glad I did it. I didn’t cry while certain someone died like I did first time around. I almost did but I guess I didn’t just like him as much this time. I’m guessing that I understand more fully about all the bad things he did.
