Synopsis:
Lives will be lost, love sacrificed, and the whole world changed in the sixth and last instalment of the internationally bestselling The Mortal Instruments series.
Erchomai, Sebastian had said. I am coming.
Darkness returns to the Shadowhunter world. As their society falls apart around them, Clary, Jace, Simon and their friends must band together to fight the greatest evil the Nephilim have ever faced: Clary’s own brother. Nothing in this world can defeat him – must they journey to another world to find the chance?

City Of Heavenly Fire is the last book of the series that made me love reading. I know some people think that Cassandra Clare shouldn’t have continued this series after the third book since she only planned to write a trilogy but I actually like these two last books more than the original trilogy.

“Heroes aren’t always the ones who win. They’re the one who lose, sometimes. But they keep fighting, they keep coming back. They don’t give up. That’s what makes them heroes.”

I could care less about Emma and Julian when I first read this book. Instead of reading their parts I just skipped them but I actually enjoyed reading their POVs this time. I love how Clary immediately wanted a new weapon when Emma told her that she needed one if she was Jace’s girlfriend.

I liked the romances is this book but I especially liked how Magnus and Alec dealed with things. We got angst but we also got them talking about things that bothered them, like Magnus not revealing anything about himself.

I have talked about how much I love Will and Jem’s parabatai bond but I don’t think it was shown how close Alec and Jace are during this series. That’s why it made me so happy when they did little things in this book like breaking other’s phone, joke around, show concern and even talk about how much they mean to each other.

I still didn’t care about Maia or any werewolf business but at least Bat was a little more interesting than Jordan. I should feel bad for not even remembering who Bat is but still being more interested in him than Jordan– but I am not.

I was regretting re-reading this series but after reading these last few books I’m actually glad I did it. I didn’t cry while certain someone died like I did first time around. I almost did but I guess I didn’t just like him as much this time. I’m guessing that I understand more fully about all the bad things he did.

  1. I am glad that you felt it was worthwhile to reread this series!
I think the best part about this book for me was Jace and Clary but well it’s been long!
I remember enjoying these books but I don’t think I’ll ever reread them or even continue reading Cassie’s future books since there are just so many and well it’s too much to remember for me!

    1. Jace and Clary used to be one of my OTPs but I didn’t actually like them during this re-read until like 3th or 4th book. I have to say I don’t ship them hard like I used to. But they are good together.

That’s why started re-reading them. I never started TDA but I’ve heard many good things, so I needed to fresh my memory before starting them, besides there’s so many upcoming books by her.
