Step into the world of the #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas with this collection of prequel novellas.
Celaena Sardothien is her kingdom’s most feared assassin. But when Arobynn dispatches her on missions that take her from remote islands to hostile deserts, Celaena finds herself acting independently of his wishes and questioning her own allegiance.

Warning: Contains major spoilers

The last time I read this series, I skipped The Assassin’s Blade but when Sam @ Fictionally Sam and I decided to read the series I knew that this ws the time to finally read it. Most people read this book as third but I knew I wanted to read it first because not only is it a prequel but I don’t think I could go back in time when a certain someone finally shows up in Heir of Fire.

“Life isn’t easy, no matter where you are. You’ll make choices you think are right, and then suffer for them.”

Sam was great first love and he was so sweet– but I also didn’t get the hype. I guess I just didn’t feel the romance and didn’t help how Celaena never told him that she loved him or even wanted him to use her good soap. That being said, Sam clearly loved her. He hated what Arobynn did to her and switched loyalties– he chose to stand by her, fight for her and never hurt or betrayed her.

Ben sounded like such a great character, so I’m sad we didn’t get any scenes with him, not even a flashback.

All in all the second story (the one involving Yrene) was my favorite one of all the novellas in this book. I might’ve found most of the novellas a little boring but I’m also I read them. I think they will make some things hit harder and understand the main character better. It was so nice to see all these characters that will appear more later in the series.
