Number-one New York Times best-selling author J.R. Ward’s thrilling new novel in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

Payne, twin sister of Vishous, is cut from the same dark, seductive cloth as her brother. Imprisoned for eons by their mother, the Scribe Virgin, she finally frees herself – only to face a devastating injury.

Manuel Manello, M.D., is drafted by the Brotherhood to save her as only he can – but when the human surgeon and the vampire warrior meet, their two worlds collide in the face of their undeniable passion. With so much working against them, can love prove stronger than the birthright and the biology that separates them?

“Love can conquer everything but reality. Which will win every stinking time.”

Payne, V’s twin sister who he has never met gets hurt, so his shellan goes to Manny, the only doctor she thinks can save Payne. I felt like both Manny and Payne were couple of cinnamon rolls and while their insta love isn’t for everyone– I loved it. Payne felt so bad about them messing up with Manny’s memories and he just wanted her to be okay. Manny could act dumb in his thought but deep inside he just wants what’s best for Payne.

I loved Payne. She was so innocent and still could kick even Wrath’s ass.

I was very exited to see Xcor already, despite being kind of annoyed that the prologue was told in his point of view instead of Payne’s. I wasn’t that interested on his point of view with the bastards but I did enjoy how he acted when he finally really met Payne.

I hated every chapter with Qhuinn’s point of view. I’m just so sick of his thoughts about Blay when he had so many changes to be with him but he decided misery instead. I also didn’t care for the drama between Vishous and Jane. They already had their “happy ending” so all the unnecessary drama pissed me off. All these men just made me think they’re dumb and hopeless.

I felt so bad for Saxton. He knows in the end he will be heartbroken because he isn’t the love of Blay’s life.

All in all if this book had been only about Manny and Payne I would’ve rated it much higher. Lover Unleashed was a story about family and love. I just wish it had focused a lot more in new couples, like Manny and Payne and even temporary couples like Saxton and Blay or Qhuinn and Layla instead of Jane and V. The whole Butch and V thing made me kind of annoyed.
