Fabiano was raised to follow in his father’s footsteps as Consigliere of the Chicago Outfit – until the man abandons him. Left to fend for himself, Fabiano is forced to fight for a place in the mafia world. As a ruthless street fighter, he quickly earns his place as the new Enforcer of the Las Vegas Camorra – a man to fear.
Leona wants to build a decent life for herself, away from her drug-addicted mother. But soon she catches the attention of a dangerous man – Fabiano Scuderi. Staying out of trouble and living a normal life are near impossible with a man like him.
Leona knows she needs to avoid Fabiano, but men like him aren’t easy to shake off. They always get what they want.
Fabiano cares about only one thing: the Camorra.
But his attraction to Leona soon puts his unwavering loyalty to the test. Is Leona worth risking everything he’s fought for, and ultimately his life?
Author’s note: Spin-Off-Series to my Born in Blood Series set in Las Vegas. You don’t have to read the Born in Blood series to understand the book.
This series is another book I saw Nadia loving (she got me reading Addicted series which I ended up adoring) and decided to give it a chance since I wanted to find more mafia books I would enjoy. I wasn’t sure of this series at all but I found three first books pretty cheap, so I didn’t waste a minute to order them.
Fabiano and Leona both had hard pasts. His father wanted him dead and she had dead beat parents. Her mom was in rehab and her father used drugs and gambles away everything. I really hope we get to know more of this younger brother Fabiano’s father wanted as consigliere. We learned some things about at least one sister but not much about his family is revealed besides that they failed him. I might need to read Born in Blood series too to find out more.
I liked the world. I tend to read more books with alpha males that pretty much changes everything get to the girl (thanks to Alexa Riley and Fiona Davenport) so this one was so different and I couldn’t stop reading. Fabiano is part of Italian mobster and they like to play with normal women but they wouldn’t marry someone like Leona. Fabiano didn’t play with her and he wasn’t a manwhore but he didn’t really expect to have a life with her either because of his boss. He didn’t want or need love.
I loved that Fabiano was brutal and dangerous but he couldn’t stop himself from always wanting to help Leona even if it dangered everything he had.
All in all the heroine could be annoying at times but if you like mafia romance I definitely recommend this series.
