Top Five Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Meeghan @ Meeghan Reads. Today’s topic was Top 5 tropes I dislike.
I can maybe name one that I actually like but mostly I dislike this trope. Usually the male character from best friends to lovers never saw heroine as anything but a friend but then someone else shows interest in her, so he’s magically always been in love with her.
This trope is so rarely done right. I’m just so sick of characters been thorn between two characters.
This is popular trope in romance but I’m really not into reading about a male character that keeps mention other women or even cheats.
I despite this trope so much. I don’t see this move as something for the other characters own good. I really hate one character making a choice for the other.
I haven’t read many but this trope doesn’t interest me at all. I think I’ve only read one and that’s because it was a book by Fiona Davenport and I’ll read pretty much anything they write.
What tropes do you dislike?
I am with you on alllll of these. The “you’ll be better off alone” trope annoys the crap out of me because the are literally making the decision for someone else, and that’s not how free will works. And the best friends to lovers via jealousy (or what I like to call the Mal syndrome) also drives me mad.

OMG YES TO THE BETTER OFF WITHOUT ME TROPE!!!!!!!!!! I THROW HANDS EVERYTIME! It annoys the ever living crap out of me when the hero or heroine just ups and leaves thinking thats what would be best for the other person. Just throw it awayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Exactly! I don’t get why some people think they’re actually doing what’s right.

I hate love triangles sooooo much! I wish authors wouldn’t use that trope all the time.
