Book one in the CARELESS WHISPERS series. This is a standalone spin-off of the INSIDE OUT series (soon to be a TV show) that follows Ella Ferguson, Sara McMillan’s best friend.
Ella Ferguson awakes alone in Italy, unsure of who she is, and a gorgeous man has claimed her as his own. He’s tall, dark, and sexy, with money and power, the kind of man who makes a girl want to be possessed. And he does possess her, whispering wicked wonderful promises to her, stealing her trust and her heart. Soon though, the past finds her, yanking her from a cocoon of passion and safety. Everything is not how it seems. The truth will shatter her world, but it can set her free, if it doesn’t destroy her first.
I was exited to hear there was Inside Out spin off after reading the series for like three times but I was also afraid I wasn’t going to like Ella’s series. There were still unanswered questions in Inside Out, so let’s hope this series gets all of them answered and not give more questions.
I loved how different this book was from anything I’ve read before. I don’t remember reading any romance books with amnesia since it seems to only happen in fantasy or soap operas.
I liked Kayden from the beginning and for some reason the fact that I didn’t know if I could trust him or not made me enjoy reading about him more. I still don’t know if he’s trust worthy because of the things he’s keeping to himself.
The relationship between Kayden and Ella was an interesting ones. You never knew if he knew her before or not but he was possessive and protective of her since the moment she opened her eyes in the hospital. I thought it was great he never showed any pity or obligation towards her, just anger towards people after her. I appreciate how he doesn’t (at least seem to) know pretty much anything about Ella but he still is making her enemies his enemies.
I liked most of the side characters but it’s a suspense and mystery romance so it’s hard to actually trust these characters. Somehow I especially distrust Adril’s sister and detective Gallo. I’m pleased that we have a little info about what happened with David, her fiancé since we knew Ella went out of country with him. I wonder who the guy Ella’s so afraid of really is. There’s so many questions I need answers for in the next two books.
All in all fascinating romance book. I so rarely read mystery or suspense and I think I’m going to enjoy this series as much as I liked Inside Out series. Careless Whispers might have even more interesting story since there’s no Mark causing drama, just Ella trying to figure out things.
