Second books in a series that disappointed me

Second books in a series that disappointed me

This is a list of “second book syndrome”. There’s a quite a few second books from a series that really let me down.

Stone Cold Touch by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I really didn’t like Zayne in the original series and this book just made me so mad. I was bored out of my mind when I reread it after many years even though I remembered like nothing about it. The series started and ended so strongly that I don’t even know if I have the will power to read the second book again.

A Devil of a Date by Andie M. Long

A Devil of a Date

I absolutely loved the first book of the series but I didn’t see any romance in this one. I mean this one was supposed to have demon romance and I didn’t know what this book was supposed to be about really.

New Moon by Stephenie Meyer

New Moon

Ugh a whole book about Bella and Jacob. When I reread it this year I only read all the scenes including the cullens.

Wayfarer by Alexandra Bracken

I finally found a time travel book in Passenger (first book of the series) and the second book almost ruined the whole experience for me.

Firewalker by Josephine Angelini

I found the whole mirror world thing interesting and after reading the first book I ordered last two books right away but of course neither was as good as the first one.

Which second books from the series did disappoint you?

  1. mmh- I don’t usually read series, so I can’t think of second books that really dissapointed me.. although Meet me in cockleberry bay might’ve been a bit less nice than the first one, though still good!

  2. Second books are often challenging especially when the first book is super good and sets up high expectations. The book that I am currently reading, Unravel The Dawn by Elizabeth Lim, is the secone book in the Blood Stars duology. I am halfway done and I am already disappointed

  3. Ugh I still haven’t read Wayfairer because I picked it up then just put it down since I wasn’t feeling it. I just…yeah I may read it one day but I wasn’t a fan of what I’d managed to read.
