Synopsis:
In New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Kresley Cole’s sizzling series, a fierce werewolf and a bewitching vampire become unlikely soul mates whose passion will test the boundaries of life and death.

After enduring years of torture from the vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, leader of the Lykae Clan, is enraged to find the predestined mate he’s waited millennia for is a vampire. Or partly one. Emmaline Troy is a small, ethereal half Valkyrie/half vampire, who somehow begins to soothe the fury burning within him.

Sheltered Emmaline finally sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents—until a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle. There, her fear of the Lykae—and their notorious dark desires—ebbs as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings.

Yet when an ancient evil from her past resurfaces, will their desire deepen into a love that can bring a proud warrior to his knees and turn a gentle beauty into the fighter she was born to be?.

A Hunger Like No Other was the second book of my Immortals After Dark reread with Ruby. This series was the first adult fantasy/ paranormal series I ever read and I used to be obsessed over it. I don’t remember a lot from the series but I remember loving Emma, so I was exited to read this one.

“Never run from such as me. You will no’ get away. And we like it.

I found Emma to be a very interesting character because she’s not just a one being. She’s a Valkyrie vampire hybrid and while she loved her aunts and they loved her, she also had to be raised by people who killed vampires. Emma had never met vampires but she’s sweet and kind, so it must’ve been horrible to be raised like that and be called meekly since she wasn’t as strong as they are.

Lachlain MacRieve was so beautiful that Emma thought he was a fallen angel. He had been waiting for his mate for about 1200 years, so he wasn’t happy when he found out that she’s a vampire after everything he has been through.

After everything Lachlain did to Emma in the beginning I couldn’t get to the romance. He had his reasons because of the torture he went through but I didn’t like how racist he was towards vampires. He had been waiting for his mate for so long, I don’t really understand how he could act the way he did. I think that Emma being a virgin made it even worse. The leader of the Lykae Clan never listened what she wanted and even if he was so sweet in the end of the book I couldn’t be satisfied enough.

I liked Emma’s bond with her aunts but I hated how they didn’t listen to her and even called her crazy.

All in all I enjoyed A Hunger Like No Other. I might’ve been too used to sweet romances since I couldn’t get to the romance as much as I wanted to. I’m happy we got to know more about what Valkyries eating does to them.
