Top 5 Books I’d Rewrite

Top 5 Tuesday

I have seen Top 5 Tuesday around Sophie @ Beware of the Reader’s blog and I missed doing memes since my two favorite ones are on a break at the moment. This week Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm gave a topic of Top 5 books i’d rewrite. This post contains spoilers since I want to explain a little bit why I chose certain books.

5. Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas

Most people love this book and maybe one of the reasons I didn’t love it as much because I don’t like YA as much anymore and because action scenes can make me yawn but after two years of waiting this is what I got? Almost 1000 pages and there were so many POVs. I just needed more romance from the last book, OK? Where was all the Rowaelin and Elorcan content I thought I’d get?

4. Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick

Hush Hush would’ve been such a good book as a standalone since every book got worse and worse but the second book was still a solid three star book unlike Silence. I just think as third book of the series it needed to have more character growth and I probably couldn’t have reread it if it wasn’t a buddy read.

3. Wayfarer by Alexandra Bracken

I absolutely loved Passenger and the second book was such a disappointment. It was such a bore and I was just waiting it to be over. I thought the ending would justify all that but it just made me want to yell ‘seriously’ at it. I’d rewrite to be a bit more interesting and just change the hero’s actions in the end.

2. Lover at Last by J.R Ward

Lover at Last was one of the books in the series I skipped while reading Black Dagger Brotherhood for the first time but when I started re-reading them few summers ago I decided to loan it from the library. It’s the only LGBT+ book in the series that I’m aware of if you don’t count the spin off and I really would like to rewrite it so I could actually like Blake and Qhuinn together.

1. Dead as a Doornail by Charlaine Harris

This whole series just went downhill after Dead to the World. I want to re-write this maybe the most in this list because this series could’ve been great if it didn’t do dirty to Eric Northman. I mean after fourth book you’d think we’d get to see more Eric and Sookie together but instead he barely appeared in this book. Instead I had to suffer through Sookie’s new love interest.

What books would you guys like to rewrite?

    1. Yes. We had to suffer with their ‘Will they won’t they’ for many books and the sad thing is that Qhuinn’s cousin would’ve been better for Blay in the end since let’s face it Qhuinn is an ass.

  1. I really wish I could reread Kingdom of Ash as well! More romance would be lovely and like more interaction of the cadre with the witches and the royals from the south would be amazing too!

  2. I fully agree on Dead as a Doornail. I still am on the fence on Eric vs Bill because they are equally awful and equally great so I’m stuck on that, but every other love interest? NO. And Sam? SAM?! No. I was so angry. I read a spoiler before I finished the very last book and gave up on it. But Dead as a Doornail is where the author tried to be extra and it just didn’t work, the rest of the series suffered because of it.

    1. Eric was the superior to me but I did like Bill in the first few seasons in the show. I never actually finished the series because of the spoilers of the last book. Like how will she end up with him from all ppl? If they were meant to be they would’ve at least given it a chance BEFORE Sookie even met Bill.

  3. I haven’t read any of the books in your list. My ageing sensibilities and general grumpiness means that I generally steer clear of YA – I don’t have the patience! 😉 I have watched the True Blood TV series and enjoyed it although even that got my eyes rolling on numerous occasions.
I wimped out of talking about specific books this week and did something different with my T5T. 😉 I hope you enjoy the rest of your week. Here’s my Top 5 Tuesday Post
