I Heart Characters #16; A Grief Filled Girl

i heart characters

“I Heart Characters! is a weekly meme hosted by Dani @ Perspective of a Writer to showcase our book blogger love for characters! Each week she’ll supply a topic and you’ll supply the character. Post on whatever day suits you, about characters from whatever media you love (books, movies, K-dramas, television, manga, anime, webtoons, whatever!) and link up on Thursday so YOU and others can blog hop and share the character love.”

After reading about this prompt, I knew I wanted to write about Alexandra Udinov from Nikita. This one contains spoilers, like usually.

Loosing Her Parents

“Most people haven’t seen their father murdered before their eyes. Most people aren’t sold into slavery. I’m not most people.”

Alex was close to her parents, especially her dad but they were murdered when she was a child. Alex’s whole family were hired to be killed but Alex was saved by Nikita.

Alex didn’t only loose her parents but she was also sold into sex slavery by someone she thought would keep her safe. Her slavers kept her high and she became addicted with drugs. Alexandra didn’t sober up until she met Nikita.

Alex chose to get a tattoo of a butterfly in her neck because they are God’s proof that people can get a second life.

Every One Around Her Dies
“I’m not the one who dies. Everyone around me dies. Everyone but me.”

Alex’s parents were the first ones to die around her but not the last. She had to kill one of her only friends to keep her cover. She also lost few of her love interests; one left and another was killed.

Besides people dying around her, she’s also been betrayed many times, like when she found out the truth about Nikita and her mom.

Joining The People Who Killed Her Father
“If you can’t face the wolves, don’t go into the forest.”

Alexandra wanted revenge against The Division after finding out that they were hired to kill her family. She pretended not to know anything about it and helped Nikita stop them from whatever they wanted, like killing their targets. In the end even Alex starts killing people for The Division.

After joining The Division Alex has been show ad tortured among all the things she went through there.

What do you think of Alex? What female character do you think is filled with grief?

  1. I love Alex!!! She was an awesome character with amazing developments. I think Clarke from the 100 (tv show) was filled with loads of grief. Awesome post Jamsu!!!

    1. I love Alex! She was my favorite character on the show and I was sad when it was cancelled.

I agree! Clarke is another female character who has lost way too much. I preferred Book! Clarke but she hadn’t been through as much as TV! version.

  2. A female character who I definitely think is filled with grief is inej ghafa from six of crows! Like Alex, she was sold into sex slavery, and she was stolen from her parents and taken to a foreign country at a young age. But I think that’s what makes inej so likable—in the series, she’s really given the time to explore her trauma, and it’s never used as a plot devise. And it’s so amazing to see her still believe in good even after all the traumatic things that happened to her.

  4. YAY! I LOVE ALEX!! I actually just love the show too and find it really compelling. I was so sad they cancelled it. I agree that Alex is so impressive… she is so strong to survive everything that’s happened to her. It’s hard to get over the murder of your parents. ❤️ You make me so happy whenever I see a character love post from you Jamsu, thank you so much.
