He hadn’t done anything to deserve her…
Jackson Swift felt like his hands were still dirty after the things he’d seen and done as a collector for a Las Vegas bookie. Although he left his past behind him, he never expected to find someone like his red-haired angel when he came to Chicago.
Kiara Kelly is too shy to approach the smoking-hot bouncer who’s caught her interest. Lucky for both of them, Jackson doesn’t have a timid bone in his body. And once he makes his move, there’s no going back for either of them.
This is my second book by Rochelle Paige. I read her book Push the Envelope in January and I was so happy to see this one in the Read Me Romance- podcast.
Kiara is a tiny woman with curves. She has long red hair and bright blue eyes. She has been going to Ice for five weeks with her co-workers. Kiara doesn’t think the guy she has a crush on even knows her but he calls her red haired angel in his mind. She’s awkward and feels out of place but she still kept going. don’t really know if it was so she could see Jackson or because her co-workers made her.
Jackson wants Kiara but he doesn’t think he’s good enough for her after the past he has but he also doesn’t think anyone else is either. I love how honest Jackson is to our heroine. He’s afraid how she’s going to react to the reason he knew about her favorite drink but he also didn’t want to lie to her.
The romance is very quick. I can’t really say much about it; they see each other and feel attracted to each other but don’t do anything until Jackson hears what her co-workers are saying and they’re in love before we know it. Jackson thought about what their babies would looked like before they had even officially known each other for a day.
I loved the Scooby Doo reference. I was like “Scooby Doo!” and then Kiara even said that it was like in Scooby Doo.
Kiara’s co-workers were the absolute worst. I don’t get why she even hang out with them. Susan acted nice towards her but why would she want to hang out with her when she was friends with someone like Candice? It would’ve been nice if it was more of a mystery if we could trust Susan or not.
All in all the book was very sweet but felt a little rushed. I think Rochelle Paige should’ve written it to be a little longer, so readers could’ve gotten more connected to the characters.

My brain exploded at the supermarket. One minute I was arguing with my three-month-old about how many grapes she could stick in her tiny mouth and the next minute I was staring at the face of the father of my child.
Bombshell is standalone novella about a second chance romance. I didn’t really like the voice narrating this novella but it didn’t affect my opinion. It just sounded like the woman who read most of the book was sick or her voice just sounded like it.
Our hero and heroine have a daughter together, Anna who got her cute dimples from her father. The book describes her to be three months old but I think she acted more like she was three years old. I don’t think any three months old babies act like that. I’m not that sure that even my niece who is over one year old does.
Kate still isn’t over how Jack just disappeared on her. She doesn’t really leave her house. I wasn’t big fan of her but I enjoyed how she reacted when she saw Jack again. I’m glad that she just didn’t forgive him immediately. Jack is such a good guy but I don’t like it when characters are forgiven too easily. People aren’t really that forgiving and it wouldn’t be realistic. Jack wanted to be there for her and their baby from the beginning and he doesn’t think anyone deserves her, even him.
The romance was a very cute one. There were moments from the present day and Kate also described some things from their past, like how he was different from when they were dating. Nothing could keep them apart, even his disability.
All in all it was pretty predictable. I knew almost immediately what was going on with Jack and why he just left Kate. I’m still kinda confused why someone wanted to break them up. Was ‘the thug’ working alone or did someone make him do what he did?
” It just sounded like the woman who read most of the book was sick or her voice just sounded like it.” this in entire mood and I have to agree with you there. I accidentally listened to the first portion of this thinking I was on the correct episode (I wasn’t) and I have to agree with you, the narrator sounded like she wanted a nap and to not talk for a whole week. lol.
Great review Jamsu! Can’t wait until I get caught up on these bad boys!

The second story sounds very good! I’d like to read that. But maybe not listen to the podcast, haha

I think the book would have been more enjoyable if the narrator didn’t almost make me fall asleep, so good call. I think you’re going to like it.
