Some loves will last ’til your dying breath. Every choice has consequences—but seventeen-year-old Layla faces tougher choices than most. Light or darkness. Wickedly sexy demon prince Roth, or Zayne, the gorgeous, protective Warden she never thought could be hers. Hardest of all, Layla has to decide which side of herself to trust. Layla has a new problem, too. A Lilin—the deadliest of demons—has been unleashed, wreaking havoc on those around her…including her best friend. To keep Sam from a fate much, much worse than death, Layla must strike a deal with the enemy while saving her city—and her race—from destruction. Torn between two worlds and two different boys, Layla has no certainties, least of all survival, especially when an old bargain comes back to haunt them all. But sometimes, when secrets are everywhere and the truth seems unknowable, you have to listen to your heart, pick a side—and then fight like hell…
Every Last Breath is the third book of The Dark Elements buddy read with Demi @ Demireads. I loved this one so much more than the second book of the series. I remember loving this book so much first time around but I was starting to get worried after giving Stone Cold Touch only two stars.
I’m so happy that Layla finally got her very own familiar tattoo. I don’t know what it’s about these familiars that I love so much, especially Bambi. I usually hate snakes but I want Bambi for myself. Not that there’s anything wrong with Roth’s different familiars.
I love the friendships in this book! Cayman is so loyal to Roth that he was ready to die and Stacey was so supporting to Layla. I also liked Stacey’s starting friendship with Zayne.
Layla finally picked between Zayne and Roth and there were so many answers we finally got like where were Layla’s new powers coming from, what deal Cayman did with the witches, did Abbot still love Layla etc.
I know there’s going to be a book about Zayne but I kinda want a book about Nicolai. He deserves the world and I just want him to be happy.
You can read Demi’s review here.
I’m glad you enjoyed it more than the second one! It seems really interesting with the familiars

I want Roth for myself. A book about Nicolai would be so interesting. This book series actually made me want to read more books about demons.
